ABOUT john

John Kianas was born in Thessaloniki in 1979. From an early age, he was captivated by video games and computer technology. A passion that led him to study programming and spend nearly a decade working in the IT industry.

In the summer of 2001, everything changed when he picked up a borrowed SLR camera. That moment sparked a lifelong love for photography. Three years later, he added a semi-professional camcorder to his gear, opening the door to the world of filmmaking. He learned the craft the old-fashioned way through film, camcorder tapes, manual focus, and hours spent digitizing footage for editing. With no formal training, John taught himself everything from scratch. Each mistake became a lesson, shaping his skills and building the foundation of his creative voice.

For many years, photography and video remained a passion on the sidelines. But in 2015, John made the bold decision to turn his creative pursuits into a professional path. Since then, he has collaborated with numerous photographers, filmmakers, and production teams, building a portfolio that spans storytelling, visual composition, and film production.

Today, when he’s not working on creative projects, John can often be found exploring new places with a camera in hand, always seeking the next frame, the next story, the next spark of inspiration.
